SARS-CoV-2 and Covid-19 Explained by a Virologist – Everything you want to know about Coronavirus

Please share, like, comment, and subscribe. You may skip to any chapter using the timecode links below. Learn about the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 and the disease Covid-19 as explained by a professional virologist. Your questions answered on the origin of SARS-CoV-2, how it spreads, how people get sick, and why evidence supports that it was not engineered in a lab. For details on the biology please watch:

I received my PhD in molecular and cellular biology. I have been studying viruses for over 20 years. I work in biotech engineering viruses as tools for gene therapy to cure diseases. I am not providing medical advice, but I am simply sharing a virologist’s perspective on the emerging science of SARS-CoV-2.

What is the cost of suppressing "herd immunity" and letting people starve to death/go bankrupt vs. trying to control the infection/death rate?!?! I'm a small business/independent and I don't get the stimulus or unemployment, and no more SBA loans. I'm willing to get exposed. Don't hate me for telling the truth!! Healthy poor people are dieing too 😣😶 LIFE MUST GO ON, as you say.

Semih, have you been following CytoDyn's Phase 2a and 3 studies with leronlimab for cytokine storm control? Little biotech from my home town of Vancouver, WA (USA)

Thank you for this great video! Could you share your thoughts about the safety level of walking around outside in various neighborhoods? Should people wear masks if they do this, or is it fine to walk around outside without a mask?

Finally some Science information about this virus!!! Glad there was no silly images, just plain readable facts. Thank-you for taking the time to do this, hope to see more. P.S, maybe all science teachers should dress like you, then more children would be involved. I know I probably would have paid more attention if the lab coat was a leather jacket or at least some hair on the teacher.

PS Your video is fantastic, one of, if not the most comprehensive ones I have seen to date. Also, you may want to edit the ibuprofen part, as there is still no data to support it being a problem, according to A. Fauchi. Also, I just scanned this article re: the WHO's thoughts. https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2020/03/18/818026613/advice-from-france-to-avoid-ibuprofen-for-covid-19-leaves-experts-baffled Which admittedly is also out of date by now.

Comment/question: As this virus started I was a local restaurant patron. While in the restaurant, and subsequently all other photos from the media, etc. do not show ANY people preparing the food wearing any type of mask to date. How is the asymptomatic person, and God forbid the "I have to work" symptomatic person breathing over my food not transmitting / shedding virus to that food, just before they wrap it up and hand it out the window to me? In industry, they ware hair nets, surgical masks, gloves to protect the product.

Still not taking any vaccine that doesn't work anyway. Love his rings though and how he simplifies the info.

I always imagined a virologist to look nerdy w a white lab coat and pocket protector, not a leather jacket and conan poster. Awesome video dude. Am i at greater risk being a smoker?!!!!

I guess another question is can it be sexually transmitted

Amazing, thanks. So I understand droplets are the main method of transmission but how about devouring the take out food (I’m buying to support local restaurants) that might be prepared by an infected food handler? Thanks. Sorry if you already mentioned it. I was multitasking while listening.

why are we not using antibodies of those who recovered in plasma, since sars-cov2 does not mutate as fast as other RNA viruses?

THAT was FANTASTIC. My son (13) and I watched it together; and she said it was one of the best things he has ever watched. Yay. Wow. My sister works with you, and she posted it on FB. I then shared it and have subscribed and learned a ton and will watch it again and your other videos. WONDERFUL presentation.

So, if I sneeze into mask, act of breathing out will push tinier viral droplets out of my surgical mask?
