my family on my dad's side were Cherokee I feel that in my blood and when I was young we visited a reservation and I felt such peace but also so much sadness. Natives got the worst deal in history and it's heartbreaking and hidden. Everyone sees racism but forgets whole tribes were eradicated, women raped, families killed, bloodlines ENDED and no ONE talks about it. There is no month to celebrate their history but we do have a day celebrating lying and the beginning of taking over what was not ours and so we celebrate and eat turkey and a day to celebrate a man who began the dehumanization of these beautiful people who roamed these lands with honor and respect of nature and a nan landed here on his ship like an ignorant fool and "discovered" what already belonged to people. Seeing what happened to these people is heartwrenching and an atrocity. My heart goes out to these people I wish I could get them all out of there to live their intended lives free and proud. I feel nothing but love and respect for your people. Hold your heads up and know you are proud people and deserve so much better. I just want to take in all those girls.

Native Americans on this video should have responded and talked about their life experiences in their language, let the asian and white people translate it with captions…. just my thought. Why speak english when you are finally on the spotlight?? SPEAK YOUR LANGUAGE, let the world learn it.

There’s So much beauty and pride within the Native people of this nation, unfortunately they have been marginalized, oppressed and ravished by the system. All lives matter will not be true until
Black lives matter, until Brown lives matter until indigenous lives matter. People of this nation are waking up, The dismantling of white supremacy and the colonial capitalist patriarchy has begun… Like the Phoenix bird, WE WILL RISE

The problem, is this notion that they can't survive off the reservation. A lot of victims of abuse feel they can't escape their abusers, and gravitate back to them. Is being on this reservation, more important than their lives? The tribal leaders should be ashamed of themselves!

Let them in on the weed industry. Set up language revitalization preschools. Provide programs to funnel them into higher education off the ReZ then return to their communities to lead them.
They feel the loss of "cultural capital", as well as actual money and lack of opportunities.

1:36 America's first people? Obviously, you don't know history, you only know what you've been taught. Show me the oldest bones and statues of "Indians" and "Africans" in the Americas… which is older? Continue to LIE about history, it will slowly catch-up with y'all.

Lisa Ling you did a fantastic job with this documentary. The racism has got to end. Native Americans have been here for thousands of years and the colonist took their heritage and land.

The same story plays it self out in almost all the Native Indian reservation. I remember visiting my sister in law in Arizona some 4 years ago, she took me to the Native Indian reservation. I was so dumb founded at the lack of development, it felt like I wasn't in America. My sister in law being a trauma nurse told me almost every night, Indian men are brought to the hospital drunk and has either been shot or stabbed. So sad. America as a Country shows the extent of the wickedness that man is capable of inflicting on another human being.
